Great Lakes Suite and Apartment
For larger groups or guests seeking greater privacy, the entire upstairs apartment is available for rent. This three and a half bedroom and two bathroom apartment features a king bed, two queens, and a twin. Maps and nautical charts of Michigan’s beautiful lakes and rivers adorn the walls. The apartment has its own entrance and a full kitchen.
Our connection to the Great Lakes is strong. In 2020, one of our owners sailed across Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario to reach the St. Lawrence River where he sailed to Nova Scotia and eventually south to Key West, FL. Coming in summer 2024, we plan to offer our guests sunset sails on the Detroit River.
Dorais Room
Named after Charles “Gus” Dorais, former Head Coach of the Detroit Lions, Detroit City Council member, and our grandfather/great-grandfather. This room celebrates both the Detroit Lions NFL team and the sport of football generally. Before joining the Detroit Lions, Dorais was the quarterback for the 1913 Notre Dame football team that defeated the highly regarded Army team in a 35-13 upset that changed the game of football forever. Dorais threw forward passes to his close friend and teammate, Knute Rockne, that they had practiced as lifeguards at Cedar Point, OH. This historic game brought the forward pass out of obscurity and made it the central fixture of football that we know it to be today.

From automobiles to architecture, Detroit is a design capital. This room celebrates these designs.
Common Spaces
For guests of the Dorais Room and the Design Room, there are three large common areas and a kitchen for your use in addition to the backyard and front porch.
